PRIYANKA'S CAMPAIGN TO CREATE COVID-19 AWARENESS AND PROVIDE FREE RATION, SANITATION KITS TO FEMALE SEX WORKERS AND VILLAGERS IN GUJARAT.
I am running a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for COVID-19 awareness and provision of dry ration, sanitation kits to rural families and female sex workers in Gujarat. The aim is to sensitize the community about COVID-19, debunk myths, reduce stigma and help them deal with the pandemic crisis. Marginalized communities have poor access to food and hygiene supplies owing to their socio-economic conditions. Poor knowledge and myths surrounding COVID-19 transmission adds to community stigma which inhibits people from getting tested. Team Ashray Foundation aims to provide free ration and sanitation kits to rural families and female sex workers along with COVID-19 literacy. Health Systems are overburdened with clusters of cases spreading rapidly and social distancing is not followed owing to the gap in the knowledge of common people regarding COVID-19. While there is a plethora of information available currently on the Internet, the common man is still in doubt about the exact mode of transmission of COVID and the precautions to be taken coupled with various myths regarding COVID-19. Poor knowledge coupled with myths is contributing to public stigma, which is a significant contributor to people not revealing their disease status or getting tested in fear of being stigmatized by the community. The pandemic has also had a long-standing impact on low socio-economic classes and vulnerable communities who are now out of work and left to fend for themselves and are deprived of essential supplies.
Team Ashray aims to support 1000 households from 20 villages in Patan District and 584 Female Sex Workers in Tapi District by providing them with free essential supplies and bridging the gap in current knowledge about COVID-19 by spreading awareness about the disease, its mode of transmission, hygiene and safety precautions to be taken while also educating about the common symptoms and debunking myths. Team Ashray will be providing essential kits of ration along with supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as Masks and Sanitizers, thereby catering to the needs of vulnerable communities who have been ignored in the chain of the pandemic.
Ashray Social Welfare Foundation started with a Total Sanitation Campaign and diversified into Craft, Development of eco-friendly products, Development of Market linkages, Women Empowerment, Drinking Water , Animal husbandry, Health, Education etc.
Contribution of as little as Rs. 382/- or more from you will help one or more person from low-income or one or more female sex worker get free ration, PPE kit, and gain the right knowledge about COVID-19 precuations.
The funds collected will be given to Ashray Social Welfare Foundation who will use it to buy PPE kits and distributing it to 5584 villagers and sex workers across Tapi and Patan district of Gujarat. You are also invited to volunteer for the campaign.
Funding this campaign has 80G tax benefits. You will receive an 80G receipt in 7 days after the campaign is closed. Foreign contribution is allowed too. You will receive details of how money was spent in 6 months after the campaign is closed.
