The Social problem :

India has over 20 million cases of children with autism. Most of these children are from low-income backgrounds. Children with autism in India face various challenges due to the lack of awareness and resources regarding autism spectrum disorders. People not being aware of autism leads to a lack of support for children with autism and their families. There is a lot of stigma and discrimination towards children with autism. This result in social exclusion and make it harder for children with autism to receive the support. Families in India have limited access to healthcare services and diagnostic facilities, making it difficult to get an accurate diagnosis of autism or access to appropriate treatment. Children with autism often face difficulties in mainstream schools due to the lack of support and understanding from teachers and peers. Families with children with autism face financial difficulties due to the cost of therapy and other interventions.

The Social solution:

Team Dhrishti has taken the initiative to support children with autism in Chembur through a school intervention. Team Dhrishti focuses on Academic program till 12 th std, Occupational therapy, Physiotherapy, Autism Intervention, Physical education, Counseling, Speech & Language development, Extra curricular activities. Occupational therapy (OT) for children with autism involves the use of specific activities and interventions to help children develop the skills they need to perform daily activities. Physiotherapy helps them to improve their physical abilities and achieve greater independence. It improves motor skills, physical activity, & reduce pain and discomfort. Extra-curricular activities are very beneficial for children with autism, as it provides opportunities for them to learn new skills, develop their interests, and build relationships with others. The agenda for Dhristi is to provide overall growth facility.
