The Social problem :

Women from low-income backgrounds in Karnataka face big barriers to entrepreneurship. Limited business training and low literacy make planning and record-keeping hard. Cultural expectations and family duties reduce time available for work, and mobility restrictions limit market access. Poor access to markets, networks, and digital tools keeps incomes unstable; nearly half of women-led microenterprises don't survive past two years. These obstacles trap capable women in poverty and block their chances to build lasting businesses.

The Social solution:

Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Karnataka (AWAKE) trains and supports women to start and grow businesses. By providing skills, small loans, market links, and digital tools, AWAKE helps women earn steady incomes and become financially independent. When women succeed, families get better food, health care, and school support for children. Strong women-led businesses create local jobs, lift communities out of poverty, and make neighbourhoods safer and more prosperous. Scaled across India, this approach builds inclusive growth, reduces inequality, and strengthens the nations economy by unlocking the talent and drive of millions of women entrepreneurs.
