The Social problem :

Disabled soldiers and war widows in India often encounter persistent obstacles to building secure, dignified livelihoods after military service or bereavement. Service-related injuries can restrict mobility and limit access to conventional jobs, while many employers lack inclusive workplaces, adaptive infrastructure, and awareness of their capabilities. War widows may also shoulder sole caregiving responsibilities, face social isolation, and have limited time or resources to pursue training. In rural and semi-urban areas, opportunities for reskilling, entrepreneurship, and market access remain scarce. Although welfare schemes exist, complex documentation, fragmented information, delayed support, and digital barriers can prevent eligible families from receiving timely assistance. As a result, many Bravehearts and their families remain financially dependent, despite years of sacrifice, skills, resilience, and their rightful aspiration for independence and security.

The Social solution:

CoEB delivers a beneficiary-centred livelihood programme that enables disabled soldiers and war widows to earn sustainably near home. It assesses each person's abilities, interests, family situation, location and local demand, then creates an individual livelihood plan. Beneficiaries receive support to establish viable micro-enterprises, including kirana stores, Common Service Centres, tailoring units and locally suitable businesses. Assistance covers disability-inclusive skills training, business planning, equipment, enterprise setup, government linkages, mentoring and follow-up. Through its partnership with SCPwD, CoEB provides specialised training tailored to beneficiaries' capabilities and livelihood goals. CoEB is also developing cafe's operated collectively by disabled soldiers and war widows. The model links training directly to enterprise creation, monitors income and business continuity, and adapts successful formats for replication across India.
