The Social problem :

Across India, over 63 million deaf and hard-of-hearing people face daily barriers to accessible education and communication. Public spaces, classrooms, and services often lack interpreters, sign-language resources, and inclusive design, leaving many unable to fully participate in learning or community life. Without widespread awareness or guidance for planners, educators, and businesses, environments are built around hearing norms rather than accessibility. This exclusion limits opportunities, reduces independence, and deepens social isolation for deaf individuals. Urgent action is needed to bridge information gaps, expand sign-language access, and create inclusive systems so deaf people can access the same learning and public services as everyone else.

The Social solution:

Signing Hands Foundation will train 600 Deaf and hard-of-hearing adults through an 8-month online program offering Indian Sign Language (ISL) and structured English training. The course runs Basic (3 months), Intermediate (3 months), and Advanced (2 months) levels to build literacy, grammar, vocabulary, and workplace communication. Graduates gain practical skills like professional email and cover-letter writing, improved fluency for daily interactions, and job-application readiness. By closing literacy and communication gaps, the program increases employability, independence, and socio-economic opportunity for participants. The total project aims to deliver scalable, inclusive education that empowers deaf communities nationwide.
