The Social problem :

Viluppuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, and Tiruvannamalai districts in Tamil Nadu are home to nearly 30 lakh people from rural and marginalised communities. Many families depend on daily wages, farming, or small businesses and face poverty, unemployment, low literacy, and financial hardship. Rural youth and women often lack access to quality education, vocational training, and digital resources. As industries change, they do not have the skills needed for available jobs. High training costs, limited income, and poor digital access prevent them from learning new skills. As a result, many remain unemployed or stuck in low-paid work. This situation keeps families trapped in poverty, increases inequality, and reduces their chances of building secure and sustainable livelihoods. Without affordable skill development and digital support, rural communities will continue to be excluded from better economic opportunities.

The Social solution:

VGLUG Foundation will support marginalised rural youth and women, persons with disabilities, transgender people, and other underserved communities through practical technology training linked to industry jobs. The program will provide hands-on technical lessons, and build soft skills. Participants will complete real projects, use open-source tools, receive mentoring, and get help with placements. Experienced trainers, placement coordinators, project leaders, academic institutions, and industry partners will work together to deliver relevant learning. The program aims to train 500 people, ensure at least 50% women participation, and help beneficiaries secure stable jobs with salaries. Post-placement support will help them remain employed and grow professionally. Progress will be tracked through enrollment, certifications, placements, job retention, salaries, and women's participation. Feedback from learners and employers will improve and expand the program.
