WINGS'S CAMPAIGN TO DISTRIBUTE MENSTRUAL CUPS TO MENSTRUATING GIRLS OF MUMBAI/PALGHAR SLUMS & RURAL.
I am running a crowdfunding campaign to distribute menstrual cups to menstruating girls from slums and rural areas and raise awareness about menstrual hygiene best practices. Millions of girls from slums and rural areas dropout of school every year when they start menstruating due to lack of menstrual hygiene facilities. They use dirty cloths, newspapers, ashes, old dried leaves and husk. Every Girl has the right to bleed with dignity under any circumstances and hygiene is a basic requirement. I have partnered with WINGS Foundation to distribute menstrual cups to menstruating girls from slums and rural areas and also raise awareness about menstrual hygiene best practices. Please support this campaign by entering the amount you wish to contribute using a Credit/Debit card, Net-banking, etc. You will also get a report on how funds were used. Almost 23 Million girls drop out of school every year when they start menstruating due to lack of proper menstrual hygiene management facilities, which includes lack of sanitary napkins and logical awareness of menstruation. More than 80% of adolescent girls from low-income backgrounds do not know how to keep hygiene during menstruation and post menstruation. Menstruation is normal and a healthy part of life and yet females in India go through extreme struggles to manage their periods every month. A large chunk of the Indian population believes this natural cycle to be a ‘curse’, ‘impure’, and ‘dirty’ among other things, courtesy of the ancient myths surrounding menstruation in our country. It is due to this ignorance that most females resort to unhygienic and harmful things like rags, cloths, mud, ashes, cow dung, etc. Such practices have proven to be extremely harmful to females being the leading cause of major health issues.
Team WINGS Foundation has taken the initiative to help 2800 menstruating girls from slums and rural areas by providing them with menstrual cups and raising awareness of safe menstrual hygiene practices. This will be done by conducting awareness sessions/workshops to introduce puberty, sexual/reproductive health, menstrual health, safe menstruation practices, and usage of menstrual cups to menstruating girls from slums and rural areas of Mumbai and Palghar district of Maharashtra.
Women in Need Given Support (WINGS) Foundation is a non-profit organization that is dedicated towards uplifting marginalized communities through sustainable projects and strengthening health and education at the grassroots level.
Contribution of as little as Rs. 350/- or more from you will help 1 or more menstruating girls from slums and rural areas of Mumbai and Palghar get a menstrual cup and bleed with dignity for the next 5 years, and learn menstrual hygiene practices.
The funds collected will be given to WINGS Foundation who will use to buy and distribute menstrual cups to 2000 or more menstruating girls from slums and rural areas of Mumbai and Palghar while teaching girls the basics of menstrual hygiene.
You will receive a 80G receipt for your valuable contribution in 7 days after the campaign is closed from WINGS Foundation. Foreign contribution is not allowed. You will receive details of how money was spent in 6 months after the campaign is closed.
