Smallholder farmers, women, tribal families, and fishing communities depend on soil, forests, water, and oceans for food, fuel, and income. Erratic monsoons, declining soil fertility, falling water tables, reduced agricultural yields, and diminishing fish catches are deepening poverty and encouraging youth migration. Deforestation, biodiversity loss, weakened coastal protection, and limited environmental awareness are accelerating these challenges. Without urgent, community-led action, vital carbon sinks may disappear, livelihoods may collapse, and climate inequality will intensify across vulnerable regions.

The Social solution:

TERRE addresses ecological degradation through a community-led, nature-based model combining afforestation, degraded-land restoration, mangrove regeneration, and agroforestry. Local communities participate as co-owners, helping achieve tree survival rates of up to 97% while strengthening climate resilience and biodiversity. Fruit-bearing trees create sustainable income opportunities for rural, tribal, and coastal families. TERRE's education initiatives, including the TERRE Olympiad, school programmes, and ocean-literacy activities, have already reached more than 1.5 million students, building lasting environmental awareness. With UNESCO consultative status, UNFCCC observer status, and partnerships including the International Ocean Institute's Ocean Academy, TERRE connects policy with grassroots action. Its proven model, supported through CSR and public-private partnerships, can expand across vulnerable landscapes.
