PROJECTZARIYA'S CAMPAIGN TO TRANSFORM PRISON TIME INTO ARTISAN EMPOWERMENT AND ZERO RECIDIVISM
I am volunteering with Project Zariya Trust to raise awareness and funds to transform prison time into artisan empowerment and zero recidivism. Udaipur's female inmates face family abandonment, no skills, and stigma, trapping them in poverty and recidivism cycles post-release. Please support this campaign by contributing any amount of your choice using your Credit/Debit card, Net-banking or UPI. Your donation qualifies for 80G tax benefits. Funds will be transparently utilised towards workshop setup with industrial machines, wages, reintegration packs with portable machines and fabric; compliance, audits, monitoring, and travel; plus sustainable packaging, branding, and product logistics. You'll also receive a report on fund use from She for Society. (Foreign contributions are not accepted.) Let us empower and transform prison time into artisan empowerment
In Udaipur Central Jail, Rajasthan, female inmates from marginalised tribal and low-income backgrounds endure profound socio-economic invisibility. Over 70% face complete family abandonment, social boycott, and no visitors, unlike male counterparts. As first-time offenders driven by domestic conflicts or desperation, they lack vocational skills, soft skills, and post-release support. Nationally, India's 22,000 female prisoners transition yearly with zero savings and criminal records barring employment. Rooted in patriarchal stigma and intergenerational poverty, this leads to recidivism, extreme poverty, forced migration, domestic abuse, and children pulled from school, perpetuating a revolving door of crime amid post-pandemic job scarcity.
The Zariya Training-to-Trade Model transforms incarceration into vocational residency for Udaipur's female inmates. Through skill mapping, they master certified sewing, bag-making, and textile crafts in professional in-prison workshops, earning fair wages saved in personal accounts. Market-ready products sell via the sustainable Zariya brand and retail partnerships, funding the ecosystem. Post-release, a Reintegration Kit and mentorship enable remote artisan roles or micro-businesses, with family reconciliation support. Impacts include 15,000 20,000 savings per woman annually for 100+ trainees, 0% recidivism goal, and a Udaipur Hub empowering 500 families over three years via tracked income and reintegration.
Project Zariya empowers Udaipur's incarcerated women through vocational training and holistic support. We bridge confinement to independence, building skills and dignity for self-reliant futures.
The funds raised will be used towards workshop setup with industrial machines, wages, reintegration packs with portable machines and fabric; compliance, audits, monitoring, and travel; plus sustainable packaging, branding, and product logistics.
