SOCIAL PROBLEM TITLI FOUNDATION IS ADDRESSING
Almost 23 Million girls drop out of school every year when they start menstruating due to lack of proper menstrual hygiene management facilities, which includes lack of sanitary napkins and logical awareness of menstruation.
More than 80% of adolescent girls from low-income backgrounds do not know how to keep hygiene during menstruation and post menstruation.
Menstruation is normal and a healthy part of life and yet females in India go through extreme struggles to manage their periods every month.
A large chunk of the Indian population believes this natural cycle to be a âcurseâ, âimpureâ and âdirtyâ among other things, courtesy of the ancient myths surrounding menstruation in our country.
It is due to this ignorance that most females resort to unhygienic and harmful things like rags, cloths, mud, ashes, cow dung, etc. Such practices have proven to be extremely harmful to females being the leading cause for major health issues like cervical cancer, toxic shock syndrome, etc.
