SOCIAL PROBLEM SUBHIKSHA VOLUNTARY ORGANISATION
A special needs child requires specific attention and care due to one or more disabilities that impact learning or daily activities. In India, there is limited awareness about their potential, and systemic gaps persist in education and inclusion.
Despite the RPWD Act promoting equal participation, children with disabilities remain marginalized - unseen, unheard, and uncounted.
Around 30% of all persons with disabilities in India are children of school-going age, many without access to formal or special education. Barriers include inaccessible infrastructure, lack of awareness, poor transportation, and poverty.
With a strong link between poverty and disability, inclusive education is key to breaking the cycle. As India advances toward the Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring no one is left behind is more urgent than ever.
