You will be volunteering your skills and time to raise awareness and funds to provide treatment to patients suffering from Lymphatic Filariasis and build the capacity of medical care providers and caregivers.
All it takes is 15 to 20 minutes of your time daily for the next 14 days to help patients suffering from Lymphatic Filariasis.
The problem GLRA India is addressing
In India, every year over 400 million people fall ill with neglected tropical diseases and one of them is Lymphatic Filariasis. Uttar Pradesh has over 14% Lymphatic Filariasis cases, one of the states having the highest number of cases. There are over 23 million cases of Lymphatic Filariasis in India.
Lack of access to clean water and ignorance of basic hygiene measures are direct causes of the number of infectious diseases. Lack of good living conditions has a decisive influence on tropical diseases which often lead to lifelong disabilities.
Those affected often have no access to specialized services due to stigma & discrimination. In many parts there is no access to clean water or sanitation, roughly 30% of the population in rural communities doesnât have access to toilets.
