What You Will Be Supporting
Through Nanneer’s VANAM – One Tree, One Family initiative, urban families adopt and nurture their own native trees — completely free of cost. Each tree is given along with a tree-protection kit, geo-tagged, and monitored through the VANAM app. Your fundraising efforts will help Nanneer reach more homes, expand awareness, and scale this movement across cities.
Why This Work Matters
Cities like Madurai are facing tough ecological challenges:
1. Temperatures have risen by more than 1.5°C in just two decades
2. A significant amount of green cover has been lost due to unplanned urbanisation
3. Groundwater levels continue to fall, pushing many families towards costly alternatives
4. Children and senior citizens are among the most affected by the rising heat
5. Urban biodiversity is shrinking rapidly
The problem has been building for decades — as cities grew, trees disappeared. Today, families struggle with heat, water scarcity, and poor air quality.
VANAM brings a simple but powerful solution:
Every home adopts a tree. Every family becomes a protector of nature.
Your Role as a Volunteer
As a Nanneer Ambassador, you’ll be helping us spread the word and raise funds so more families can receive their free trees. Here’s what you gain in return:
1. Certificate of Excellence after achieving your personal campaign target — useful for your resume, career and future opportunities.
2. A chance to build valuable skills — communication, outreach, storytelling and leadership.
3. An opportunity to give back to the community with just 15–30 minutes a day.
